Louisiana authorities have indicted the first lawyer involved in trucking insurance scam which involved staging crashes in New Orleans.
Accident lawyer Daniel Patrick Keating has been indicted on a conspiracy charge, consistent with the U.S. Attorney’s Office. although authorities have advised that variety of attorneys were involved in the staged truck crash scheme, Keating is the first to be charged.
The years-long staged New Orleans truck crash scheme is done by packing an automobile with individuals and deliberately sideswiping a semi-truck to undertake to gather cash for nonexistent or exaggerated injuries.
A total of thirty three individuals have currently been indicted in reference to the federal probe into the trucking insurance scam, as well as the “ringleader” of the scheme, forty eight year old Damian Labeaud, who pleaded guilty to a charge of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud. Labeaud admitted to staging a minimum of forty semi crashes.
In the lead-up to Keating’s indictment, Keating, Lebeaud, and Mario Solomon were named in a Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act lawsuit.
